For some reason it seems that people in the world have forgotten about this word “hunch” and how important following your hunches can be in life. Maybe it’s because we have been desensitized by society. Or maybe some of us have never learned what it’s like to connect back to our true essence as a highly intuitive human being.

Hunch Definition

A pull from an online based word origin dictionary, Etymonline.com states that the word “hunch” (n.) dates back to the 1620s. Meaning, “a push, thrust,” from hunch (v.) in it’s older sense. A more figurative sense of “a hint, a tip.”

hunch meaning

As the definition states, a hunch is a feeling one receives that gives you a “push” towards a solution or answer.  Sometimes commonly known as “trusting your gut” feeling about something. By following your hunch more you will soon learn and discover new ways towards finding answers.

We need to learn to trust in our instinctual power from within so that we can bridge the connection towards making decisions based on what we feel rather than logic or reason.

What’s the Meaning of a Hunch

A hunch is typically an indescribable intuitive feeling that something might be true. A hunch feels like a guess to your analytical mind, but it is more than just a guess because you have this deep sense of certainty about it.

It can often feel as if there are no logical explanations for what your brain knows to be true. There’s not always any proof or evidence for your hunches, but they still always seem to be right, even when the odds are against them!

Hunches Meaning

Again, hunch, intuition and a sixth sense are all different words for describing an intangible feeling that some people have when they get the distinct impression of something happening or being about to happen. Below are a few that you may have heard before and are closely related to “hunches.”

Trust Your Gut Feeling or Follow Your Hunch?

The word “hunch” can be used to describe your gut feeling or instinct in knowing what might happen next; it’s also defined as having good guesses based on past experience. Unknown to many but our guts are the second brain, scientifically speaking.

The gut controls our emotions and other in-built resources that we can’t access directly but still rely on heavily for our day to day functioning. Like cognitive function or mood stability—they help us stay balanced and they play a huge role in our overall health.

It’s safe to say if you get a gut feeling, then trust it! Because when you do you will be thankful you followed your hunch!

Trusting Your Instincts

Trusting your instincts is directly related to trusting your “sixth-sense” or better known today as your intuition. The word intuition can be defined as, obtaining knowledge without full conscious awareness – like sensing someone behind you even though there isn’t any visual contact between them (person).

Feeling this way could be because we possess some kind of non-ordinary perception process beyond our usual five senses. Hence the reason it’s directly linked to out “sixth-sense” the one above conscious comprehension.

This is called extrasensory data input and it is received from an intelligence that’s unexplainable, although it exists within all of us. It is very closely linked to our inner voice; a guiding mechanism within that subtly speaks to us. Sometimes being at random occurrences, however others who have cultivated a connection with their inner voice have found it to be their greatest teacher.

Follow Your Hunch Website

We started our website and brand, “hunch.” off a whim or intuitive feeling that sparked much inspiration from that day moving forward. We took that inspiration as young entrepreneurs and created an entire registered brand around these five letters. The idea came out of nowhere but, the feeling it gave us made us feel alive.

Knowing nothing about building websites or positioning our branding; we continued to trust ourselves in the face of all fearful thoughts. The intention we had was to take the inspiration for following our “hunch” into inspiring others to do the same.

We began to imagine a movement of like-minded individuals learning and becoming inspired by other people who followed their hunch. A life where curiosity, exploration, and unknown adventure guided them.

Our vision was greater than letting this idea go by the wayside after a few months so we persisted and it paid off.

A Good Hunch

A good hunch helped us pursue the once-unimaginable creating a life that we thoroughly love on our terms. If it wasn’t for a good hunch we wouldn’t be sharing our message with you today. We are here to inspire those brave enough to take a hunch and run with it. Learning to trust our hunches has unlocked a dormant and abundant amount of creativity. Which has played a huge role in furthering our business and ideas to a degree we never knew possible.

Follow Your Hunch

The more you follow your hunch the deeper the connection you build with the depths of your being. We aren’t here to say following your hunches won’t make you feel some fear or doubt.

Although, we are here to say on the other side of your fear and doubt lies your greatest potential, experiences, ideas, and inspirations.

Fear is immobilizing in our culture today and should not be seen as “normal” any longer. The more we live in fear and indecision the more we restrict our innate intuitiveness to create amazing things in this world as human beings.

Erase the fear and doubt—and start following your hunch so you can catch your flow in life!
